Homeowners Choice Purchases Homewise Insurance Policies
On November 8, the state insurance regulators approved the transfer of up to 70,000 policies from Homewise Insurance Company to Homeowners Choice P&C Insurance Company.

As of January, 2011, State Farm is in its final phases of non-renewing Florida home insurance. State Farm is in the final stage of notifying 125,000 Florida homeowners across Florida that they are being non-renewed; a process that begun nearly a year ago. Customers are being given at least 6 months notice.
Florida Citizens Rate Increase
Florida Citizens Property Insurance Corp statewide average FL home insurance rate increase of 10.3 percent went into effect January 1, 2011. The rate increases vary by territory; homeowners in many locations may see double digit rate increases while others will be less impacted.
Regulators Approve Increases for Castle Key Insurance Customers
Florida home insurance rates for new and renewing Castle Key Insurance Company and Castle Key Indemnity policy holders statewide will increase effective Nov. 28, according to a statement from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation on Friday, September 3, 2010.
Cotton States Insurance Seeks to Pull Out of FL Market
Atlanta-based Cotton States Insurance has filed with regulators to pull out of the Florida market after nearly 50 years, saying the cost of doing business has become too steep. Assuming the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation approves its withdrawal, Cotton States would start non-renewing policies as soon as November and complete its pullout within two years.
